The Tampa Bay Lightning and Macon Woopee have both slowly climbed the standings in the CMHL and ICHF after horrendous starts to the season, and the GM of the organization credits the emergence of his goaltending for the success.
Steve Mason has played with a definate attitude since being overlooked in a mid-season review of potential rookie of the year candidates, and his numbers have been nothing short of fantastic.
After Mason's win today over the Chicago Blackhawks, he is now sporting a sparkling 2.65 goals against average on the season, along with a .901 save percentage and a 15-11-6 record. Mason can add 3 shutouts to the totals as well, as he has wrestled the starting job away from Manny Legace in Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay, Florida offers a laid back lifestyle that most locals and tourists find very enjoyable.
People come year round to enjoy the local warmth and beauty. Some come for the baseball, some for the hockey, all for the sunshine.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have settled in to that same laid back lifestyle for most of this season, and not long ago were challenging for the Taylor Hall sweepstakes. At least they would have been had they still retained their 1st round pick in the 2010 draft.
Seven games ago, after a 5-0 loss to Washington (dare we say they can thanks the Lightning for their present 1st place spot in the Conference?), a closed door meeting between the players, coach Dave Tippet and GM Dave Normoyle that lasted over an hour addressed some of the club's issues this season.

The Montreal Canadiens gave the Tampa Bay Lightning all they could in the opening round of the 2009 post season. The Canadiens knew it would be tough coming into the series with sniper Jason Arnott on the shelf, and in the end they were right.
The Lightning set the tone in the opening game when center Bobby Holik pummelled Rusty Klesla in a bout.

While the Lightning dropped the opener 4-3 in overtime, the team's nasty side played a role in the rest of the series as the club won the next four games.
